Arya Samaj Marriage Rituals
Rituals are important part of arya samaj marriage. There are specific and certain Vedic rituals are being performed when marriage ceremony takes place. Arya Samaj Pandit or Acharyaji does the necessary formalities to accomplish the marriage process. Arya Samaj Indore center head will guide and follow to perform vedic rituals while performing marriage ceremony.
While marriage they utter “Pratigya Mantra” which is under the ritual called “Kanyadaan” in which both bride and groom holds hands of each other and takes marriage oaths.
Shilarohan (शीलारोहन)
In this arya samaj marriage ritual below procedure should be followed :
After that the bridegroom, following the bride, go near the south side of the bride, standing facing north, hold the bride's Dakshinjali with her Dakshinjali and that man again sitting in the south of the havan kund with an Kalash.
After this, the bride's mother or brother, who was the first rice and jwar ki dhani (khile) which was kept in the soup (supdi or chhaj), should take it in the left hand and lift the bride's south foot with the right hand and get her climbed it on a stone rock. And at that time groom should utter the below mantra :
ओम् आरोहेममश्मानमश्मेव त्वं स्थिरा भव। अभितिष्ठ पृतन्यतोsवबाधस्व पृतनायत: ।।1।।
Rishi Dayananda Saraswati, Indian philosopher, Social leader and Founder of the Arya Samaj said about Bride (Vadhu, Kanya, Sumangali bride):
