जिवाग्नि का उद्दीपन-प्रज्वलन
प्राण के प्रहार से जिवाग्नि के उद्दीपन-प्रज्वलन का उल्लेख अनेकों साधना ग्रंथों में अनगिनत स्थानों पर हुआ है। यह वही अग्नि है जिसे योगाग्नि, प्राणऊर्जा, जीवनीशक्ति अथवा कुण्डलिनी कहते हैं। अग्नि में ऐसा ही ईंधन डाला जाता है, रासायनिक पदार्थ अधिक मात्रा में होते हैं। कुण्डलिनी प्राणाग्नि है उसमें सजातीय तत्वों का ईंधन डालने सही उद्दीपन होता है। सूर्यबेधन प्राणायाम द्वारा इड़ा-पिंगलों के माध्यम से अंतरिक्ष से खींचकर लाया गया प्राणतत्व मूलाधार में अवस्थित चिनगारी जैसी प्रसुप्त अग्नि तक पहुँचाया जाता है, तो वह भभकती है और जाज्वल्यमान लपटों के रूप में सारी सत्ता को अग्निमय बनाती है। इसके लिए किसी शान्त-एकांत स्थान में सुखपूर्वक बैठकर स्थिर चित्त हो अभ्यास करना चाहिए। आसन सहज, मेरूदण्ड सीधा, नेत्र अधखुले, घुटनों पर दोनों हाथ, यह प्राणमुद्रा कहलाती है। इस अभ्यास के लिए प्रातः व सायं बेला ठीक है।

The posture is easy, the spine is straight, the eyes half open, both the hands on the knees, this is called Pranamudra. Morning and evening time is fine for this practice.
